This breed is a strong, muscular active dog of good demeanor. In history it was a carriage dog, able to run a long distances with horse and carriage. It was useful to clear the busy streets of people to allow horses through, and has a good association with horses in the main. Although always spotted the hallmarks of spotting (size, shape and distribution) came later and was developed into the spotting we have today by the French and English. The dalmatian is well known to be very good with its family and loves to be around people.
We bought our first dalmatian in 1994 and have shown and bred dalmatians since then. Dogs that we have bred are under the kennel name of Sprintaway, representing our main aim of improving the breed whilst maintaining excellent temperament.
We have titled as Australian Champion 11 dogs(6 bred by us) with 3 of those achieving Grand Champion titles (2 of those 3 bred by us) and now we have titled 2 Supreme Champions (1 of those bred by us). Our dogs (bred+owned) have reached Best in Show at Dalmatian Specialty shows and Best in Show at All Breeds Shows, as well as multiple Sydney+Canberra+Bathurst Royals Best of Breed, many Best in group and class in show awards.
To assist the sport and our knowledge of dogs we are both judges for the Non Sporting Group and Gundogs being also experienced Stewards. Our involvement in the sport has also seen us over the years holding positions of President, Vice president, show secretary and other positions in All breed clubs.
We are located in the central west of NSW on 102 acres in the district just north of Lithgow, where our dogs get plenty of exercise and love.
